巨大SNSに大変革。「Twitter消滅」がトレンド入り

Twitterは2023年7月24日、会長兼CEOであるイーロン・マスク氏のツイートにより、名称を「X」に変更する方針を発表した。ドメインも「Twitter.com」から「X.com」に変更され、サービスのロゴもお馴染みの青い鳥から新ロゴへと刷新される。 Twitter運営会社であるX Corp. CEOのリンダ・ヤッカリーノ氏も同様の内容をツイートしており、「Xはすべてを提供できるプラットフォームになる」「イーロンと私はXを世界に届けることを楽しみにしている」とコメント。どうやら本格的にTwitterから新生「X」への移行が進んでいるようだ。 Twitter買収の際、イーロン・マスク氏は「Twitterの買収は、すべてを兼ね備えたアプリである“X”の立ち上げを加速させるもの」ともツイートしており、その構想が現実になった格好。一般にTwitterでのつぶやきは“ツイート”と呼称されているが、「X」への移行後にそれも変わるのだろうか？
